Mogan went to the foot doctor.

Morgan went to the foot doctor this morning about the wart in the heel of his foot. I expected he would come home with it cut out this morning, but I was wrong. (Happens every now and again. Just often enough to keep me humble.) Dr. looked at it, said it needs to be cut out, and she does that at the hospital. So Feb. 19, I have to have him at the hospital by 7 am, for surgery at 8. It will be an out patient surgery, but he does have to have general anesthesia.

We are still waiting on test results for the other issues.

Thanks for praying!

Morgan's party

Friday we had Morgan's sixteenth birthday party at the church's gym. (I am so thankful we could use that!) A little over 40 people were there at various times, we played volleyball, flag football, danny ball, apples to apples (Thank You, Pastor Jonathan! We forgot to bring ours and he lent us their's.), and some of the boys did some wrestling.

I will get pictures on tomorrow.

Ben's speech

Yesterday I met with the speech pathologist for Ben. We've known since Dec. that he qualified for the therapy, we just set the schedule up yesterday. He starts Monday, and will go twice a week for therapy. Mrs. S will be doing his therapy, and I'm thrilled with this. She is the same lady that did his evaluation, and she is just a gem.

Morgan's afternoon...

was spent at the pediatric gastroenterologist's office. (Say that three times fast!) They examined him, ordered more blood work, and gave Morgan instructions on how to collect samples for further testing. Dr. said right now he is thinking one of three things: 1, the parasite the boys had in Aug of 07 never completely flushed out of his system. Unfortunately St. Jo's West doesn't have the name of the parasite on file because they never actually ran the test because the dr didn't bother to sign the order, even though I insisted several times they run tests for parasites. (No, I'm still not happy about that!) 2. a bacterial infection. This is treatable, treatment depends on what kind of bacteria. 3. Celiac's disease is something they are going to look into. It would account for his weight loss, as well as him not growing in the last two years. (If you're family, and you know of a history of celiac's please let us know. The dr was wanting to know if there is history of celiac's or chrone's in our family.)

Please keep praying for him as we go down this not-so-fun road.

Praise: According to Jeff, the doctor and the nurse practicioner they saw today were both very good to deal with. When I asked Dr. Callahan for a referral, I asked him if this was his child going through this, who would he go to, Dr. Callahan said Dr. Rosenblum. Dr. C said Dr. R is very thorough and will keep searching until we have answers to why he is lost all this weight.

Morgan's big day

Morgan turned 16 today. Wow! When did I get old enough to have a child that can drive???? Anyway, Jeff took him to breakfast, then to St. Charles, where he passed his permit test! I'm so excited for him! Now we need to take him out to drive. Jeff took him to the church after he passed his test today and let him drive in the parking lot. Morgan said the funnest part of that was Dad "freaking out". LOL

He got to spend today reading Breaking Dawn, shopping with Dad, eating at Waffle House for breakfast, Taco Bell for lunch, then I made tacos for dinner. (The meal he asks for every single week!)

For desert we had blonde brownies, with vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce on top. It was soo yummy!!! He finally gets to watch Independence Day tonight. He's been wanting to watch it for awhile.

For Morgan, it's a great day! Can't wait until January 23 when we have his party at the church gym!

Happy New Year! (A little late!)

2009 has officially been here for seven days. I had originally planned our calendar for school to be back into school by now, but I ended up going to my folks' for New Year's Eve with four of the kids. That means my prep work for January didn't get done since we were out of town, so we moved it back a week. This means the kids now will get out of school May 14, instead of May 7, and we will get to start January with everything ready to go.

We had a great New Year's! Jeff and Morgan went to Winter Retreat down at Sagmount, so the rest of us headed north. I cherish those times when I get to stay with Mom and Dad, and it isn't packed full of activities! We did go out to my sister's on New Year's Day so I could see Arron's new room. Carmen and Rusty did a great job on that room! One of these days I will kidnap her and have her help me figure out how to paint my music room. (There's your only warning, Carmen, so start thinking about it!)

Ben and I had an appointment today with the school district about speech therapy for him. Yay! He qualified. I think that sounds bad, because, in effect, I'm saying yay there's something wrong. But, really I just mean yay! We'll be able to get help. We meet with the speech pathologist Jan 16 to set a schedule. She did tell me it will probably be twice a week, thirty minute sessions. I'm glad we are only about five minutes from the school!

Morgan turns 16 in FIVE days! WOW! I'm so not ready to have a child that can drive. Sometimes I feel like his childhood has flown past me, how did we ever get to this point? We are having a big party for him at the church gym on the 23rd. We were going to do it this Saturday, but too much was going on. We finally settled on a Friday night, and this is when Pastor Phil said we could use the gym. I'm excited for him. He is happier now than I think he has ever been. If for no other reason, I'm so glad we left our old church just to see the change in my boys! Grace is so good for them. Anyway, I digress. He is supposed to be going tomorrow to test for his permit. Pray for him, I know he is nervous about it! Pray for us as we teach him how to drive. Yikes!

I have gone on a diet again. I hate being fat. I said it. I hate it! I am trying to follow weight watchers plan, and have joined a weight loss competition. Pray for me to stick to it. It's so easy to get stuck in my desk chair and work on school, scrapbook, play my instruments, mess around on the computer, and not move. I have to start being more mindful of how much I am or am not moving. This just started up again Monday, today Morgan hands me a candy bar and says "I love you". I said, "Do you want me knock your head off?" Jeff told him offering me chocolate when I'm trying to lose weight is not a good idea. I guess you had to be there, but when it happened it was really funny.

That's about it for now, hopefully I'll get some kind of pictures up here by Friday night.
